Nga mahi i te whenua – Jobs on land
New Zealand has a reputation for producing high quality, safe and nutritious seafood, most of which is processed on land. It takes a range of skills to get it to market, meaning there are a variety of rewarding career opportunities.
You could start out fileting fish or packing, and with hard work you could land yourself a management position in one of our world-class seafood processing plants.
There are also opportunities to train while you work, and while you will need to discuss this with your employer, you can check out the Primary ITO for information on the types of training and qualifications available, this includes apprenticeships.
If you are keen to do some training before you start working in the seafood industry, you could sign up to the New Zealand Certificate in Primary Industry Skills - Seafood.
